Bernice Anne Dudziec

George Toriello sent me this information on July 31, 2019 telling of the service of Bernice Anne Dudziec who, he states from his research, was the sister of Alfons S. Dudziec, whose name is listed on the Plaque at City Hall in Hackensack of those who died while serving during World War II

Records show Bernice A. Dudziec was born on August 21, 1915 in Pennsylvania.  The 1930 Census shows the family living at 486 Washington Avenue in Hackensack, NJ.  In 1940, the Census reveals Bernice is living at the Hospital Place”, which was a dorm like setup in a building next to Hackensack Hospital where a nurses school was located at the time and they would train or be tutored by other experienced nurses at the hospital.

On November 2, 1942, Bernice Anne Dudziec enlisted into the Army and rose to the rank of Major, while serving the entire War, then released on January 10, 1946.  Bernice A. Dudziec died on March 11, 1997 at the age of 81 and is buried in Saint Michael's Cemetery South Hackensack, Bergen County, New Jersey.
